Sometime ago, about a year ago, I found sum weird game on a youtube lets play called dwarf fortress, so I watched it, was rather amused by it, also had some laughs due to how funny the game was, such as some fucked up random names and some weird random stuff like being able to equip corpses and use them as weapons to kill your enemies for example; which lead to one scenario of sum guy impale a wolf with a wolf corpse, imagining it was rather amusing.

What is Dwarf Fortress?

Here's the quick summary of what Dwarf Fortress has the gameplay of Dungeon Keeper mixed up with the style and interface of Rogue spiced up with The Sims. It's one large sandbox game taking place in a fantasy world. And it's all about dwarves, mining and dying. The unofficial motto is "Losing is fun", which is pretty accurate. The owner of this is some guy named Toady, he coded it himself, he still codes it at this moment, he is like Gaku; coding their own game alone. Toady does allow fan made mods though so there are MANY mods of this on the forums.

Anyways... a brief explanation.

Yes the graphics lack but games with shitty graphics usually has good gameplay. You can install a graphics pack to get the graphics in.

Edit: I might have to fix some stuff on this... >.>

I spent a lot of hours playing this game 2-3 years ago. Your 5x5 scaffold is just asking for trouble. :P

The newer versions are about a hundred times more complex. I recommend playing the earlier ones. I personally don't like the incredibly anal micromanaging. Dwarf ghosts and etc.

I recommend DF 2010. When the ore was plenty and the lag wasn't as severe. Ah. 120 Goblins versus my fortress...You didn't need to hide behind traps back then.

I think the lag was removed, the last time I played; it was running perfectly. :P

When toady first posted V2012, it was bugged/ laggy as fuck, but that was changed, try testing the newest version of 2012 and see for yourself.

No, I am using DF builder for the mac.
The graphics used for me are what are used in the Genesis Mod. Edit: I am using Ironhands graphic set.

I usually only play adventure mode on the newest versions, Because biting is hilariously overpowered. You can literally bite demons to death that can make you blow to pieces just by throwing you. It's even better if they're demons made of filth or vomit.

As I recall, the reason I stopped playing is that militias were bugged, making training, and more importantly, defense, practically impossible. The alternative was to use the old Mayday Green version. I'm fairly certain the graphics in the mod you're using are from this set as well.

Yea, they use to be bugged on 40D.
Was rather amusing to see them murder each other while training. XD

Reminds me of Dungeon Crawl Stone Soup. I remember DF now, though I couldn't get into it.
