I humbly request that one Gakumerasera bequeath unto me, Korin, all files heretofore pertaining to the BYOND game; Final Fantasy Online.

Why would I request such a thing, you may ask? Simply put, I do not wish to see the game slowly die away and fade into some ethereal void comprising the dusty corners of Gaku's kayaking photo album. Or a similarly distressing fate.

Regarding updating or otherwise sprucing up this spifftastic game I've come to know and enjoy over the years; A sort of census will be taken among this community (or what's left of it, sadly) and the horde of newcomers I'll be bringing in. Said census will be focused (mainly) on balance issues we currently have, future wipes and potential level caps, removing or adding certain features, etc. Gradually culminating into a generally accepted standard to which each wipe/pwipe/etc is molded from.

I believe this game has high potential for a roleplaying environment. And within the community I am currently residing, I think it'd be possible to bring in a slew of newcomers to rekindle the olden days of olde, when we had quite a few players. (Around like 60+) With this new generation of folks, we bring a fresh outlook on the game, new sense of exploration and excitement in the later aspects of the game, such as domain warfare, a sense of kinship even, regarding domains and general play.

And eventually, if I can find an iconner willing to work for free, we could begin transitioning FFO into it's own unique form so that it may once more grace the BYOND hub.

So Gaku, I implore you to consider passing ownership of Final Fantasy Online, in my hope to keep this grand game alive.

all you said here was a fincified version of every other person's attempt to get ffo, nothing here is new to the requests gaku has gotten for people to take ffo

i severely doubt(almost enough to plainly say he wont, but i will not speak for him) that he will even consider this

if gaku wants to give it to somebody he will, but i think he'd rather just use it to transition players into terulia(or as a testing ground for terulia ideas) and then prominently delete ffo, because why would he give someone ffo when it would be direct competition for terulia(something he had stated in the past)

good try though kiddo

edit: fancified* i freakin suck at typing

I don't plan on making FFO any sort of competition for Terulia.

Because, as far as I'm aware, Terulia will be a predominantly PvE/PvP game.

Whereas, I wish to take FFO in the direction of a roleplaying game.

Not necessarily pure RP, but just a smidgen enough for people to be immersed and happy.

In fact, I would be glad to keep the game entirely private from its transition from FFO to whatever will be made of it. However long that might take.

yo gaku hook me up with the FFO files so I can replace all the PC characters with ponies and host it myself.

Gaku specifically released the killcode to use on servers that are not his in order to cause the game to self-destruct.

He's not going to give away a version without said code, and that code can and will be used by anyone who gets bored/pissed off, even on an 'RP' server. The fact anyone can destroy a private server, and it doesn't show up in the logs who said it when nobody else is around, as it erases all files used by the hosting of FFO, saves included, means preventing people from kill-coding the game down is not going to be feasible for you.

TL;DR No, not happening.

It was my knowledge that this "rogue" server was something not sanctioned by Gaku himself.

The entire premise of this thread is -Gaku- to give me his game. Ownership, etc. That way I can try and give the game a breath of fresh air, so to speak.

And if I have ownership of the game, source in hand, I can erase the kill-trigger.
