Terulia's custom path generation system is a modified version of Metropolis-coupled Markov chain Monte Carlo (MCMCMC).
I just learned about this system during a lecture 15 minutes ago.

I forgot to mention, the main difference is that MCMCMC tries to find the "best" solution.
The dynamic map generator specifically tries to find one or more suboptimal solutions.
