upgrading armor and weapons?

The only difference I have ever noticed in upgrading either is how fast they degrade and if they have an element upgrading it makes the element a little more powerful. Honestly I haven't seen any difference in damage with weapon damage or armor damage reduction associated with upgrades. Is this mostly noticeable on the higher tier weapons and armor or have i just not gotten my equipment high enough to notice a difference?

Effects from upgrades are exponential, I believe.

That is, for example:

Worthless - 1000%
Mediocre - 1%
No-name = 0%
Standard + 1%
Perfect + 1000%

Not that these are the real numbers or modifiers but it works something like that.

I'm not gonna ruin it and tell you exact numbers. But each upgrade increases every stat of said item by x amount. To include: elemental add on (positive and negative), stat raises (attack, agl, dext, etc (positive and negative)), and so on.

Meaning if you upgrade a two handed sword your attack will rise but your agl modify will get worse. Likewise, if you upgrade a fire armor piece you are more resistant to fire and that much more weak to water.

Oh, and of course you get an increase in endurance each upgrade as well.

It works there is nothing wrong, etc.
