First, off let me state I have nothing personally against Cea, however I don't see in use in him being icon checker. It seems he was just given it just for the hell of it, which really shows since he does not know anything about icons.

In FFO, icon checkers have always been more than just people who checked icons, they also knew how to icon themselves. Now I would not mind Cea being an icon checker if there were more active ones and he operated more as a minor one.. But when there is already a shortage of icon checkers, you do not give someone the position who can't icon or just has no particular interest in it..


You tell Cea: Can you do my icon in FFO format if I send it to you?

Cea tells you: CAN'T DEYLIN!!

You tell Cea: Why are you icon checker?

Cea tells you: I'm icon checker but I check them, not make them!


Regardless if people like it or not, many players and even icon checkers have been asking Deylin for help on icons. I don't care about what people think of her, I feel that she should have icon checker status back for these reasons:

1. She's active.
2. She actually knows how to icon and does it well.
3. Players already come to her for help and she's not even an icon checker.
4. Icon checker has nothing to do with moderating the game, so really it's no harm.
5. Zeno is the most active icon checker and he's not on often. So really activity wise, icon checkers are hardly on.

I do make my own icons and have been all along.

Because I'm the most active I don't have time to be formatting and making everyone's icons.

I've been getting asked about uploading icons numerous times today already.

I normally do help people with their icons, as I have before when I was an icon checker.

But again, I've felt rushed all day.

It's not my job to format for you, that's merely a curtousy.

he did his job, and its not a requirement, he doesnt HAVE to put your icon in, or even turn it into format, he just has to tell you whats wrong with it, and implement it if he chooses to do so and its right

In the past it was all handled through Gaku, who I suspect lacks the sort of creative bones for pixel art such as icons.

Kikuri is on far more often than Zeno.

Maybe the issue is that you guys are too lazy to contact the people that are icon checkers and just assume if they aren't on the game at the exact moment you need them then they are inactive?

Both Zeno and Kikuri check the forums often enough to respond to PMs in a timely manner.

even though deylin was the only icon checker she still countlessly put icons into terulia format for people because they didn't know how, she never *****ed saying "oh it's a curtesy", it's your job. If you are going to be an icon checker you have to take on all the responsibilities of being one, you can't half ass it. If you simply want to just check icons, really what's the point? I don't need to you check my icon, nor do many other players. Some players just don't know how to do the format so we expect our icon checkers to know how instead, is that so much to ask? Zeno gladly put my new recolor in FFO format for me lastnight without no complaints. Why? Because it's his job, so do yours as well Cea.

Icon checkers have always been known to create icons, and I would never hire someone for a job if they don't know how to do it, nor if they wanted to half ass it. Some people have actually waited days just for their icon to get uploaded..

Again; it's not my job. I'm sorry. I linked you to an icon with the proper format when you asked me. It's extremely easy to do and, yes, it is expected of the person to put some work in for their icon. Even so, as I said, I don't mind fixing small errors, I don't plan on being THAT icon checker. Ask Deylin, I just fixed an overworld and improperly named icon for one of her friends. Because I have time to now. But when you asked me I was in the middle of training.

Also if you haven't caught on yet, I have been checking and making icons for about as long as I've been on FFO haha

I think it boils down to this: certain people would choose an icon checker that isn't going to go above and beyond for the community than allow Nolynn to be an icon checker. That or the rumor that Gaku only removed her ban on the condition that she not be an icon checker ever again. Who knows in this soap opera of a community?

If an icon checker does any of those, its their choice. It has nothing to do with their job. Stop assuming it is.

When you are a given a job above and beyond all other players in a game such as icon checker. IT IS YOUR JOB to help the ****ing community as you know how to do something that they might not/dont know how to do.

You guys assume its ok to be lazy and shrug stuff 0ff and when people ask for help you simply go "too busy" or "look at this (link)" fix your own icon. if they knew how to fix and make their own damn icon perfectly im pretty sure they would have done it in the beggining mother ****er.

Topics like this honestly piss me off as a Icon Checker you should be happy to help your fellow players in anyway shape or form that you can as you are a example to them. This was a major issue when nab delcared himself "icon checker 2.0" and its been a issue with a few icon checkers in the past. i have nothing against cea but please dude man up and do the job or step down and pass the torch this is all i have to say to you.

on that note i also would like to say ive tried to get in contact with icon checkers before it is a pain in the ass from hell. especially when you say "just pm them" true fact these forums work for me maybe 1 of 10 tries its insanely ****ing stupid and this needs to be fixed for gods sake.

An icon checker merely has to CHECK everything to make sure the icon's properly formatted, and then upload them. I remember a time when people had to post on the forums for an icon, and DTees was the one and only icon checker. I recall him turning away several icons because they -several- icons for relatively minor issues, he didnt always fix them. That's because it's up to the discression of the icon checker? You want above and beyond? Apparently Cea handed you an icon that was properly formatted so that you could reference, he doesn't even -have- to do -that-. That being said, I have almost 0 iconning experience, and I made my Wulf Kaizen icon myself off of, gee, guess what, a formatted icon a CHECKER sent me. And since these icons are only recolors, it really isn't hard to do -anything- with the icons themselves.

That being said, since all the icons are now just recolors, I suggest there be a spot for us to download all of the base icons themselves, so that way no one can ***** anymore about "waaa icon checker is doing his job but im a lazy ass waa waa"

Alright, guys.

I considered giving Deylin icon-checker back shortly after she was unbanned, since after all, what can she seriously do that she wouldn't get caught doing and get banned permanently from the game that, for what has caused so much emotional and mental abuse, she is absolutely addicted to.

And then someone asked on TRC for the Base PC Icons, and Deylin promptly responded:

"Why don't you ask an ICON CHECKER?"
"Oh, wait, THEY AREN'T ACTIVE."
"It isn't my job to do that."

She knew damned well how to find the Base PC Icons - she was the one that sent them to me, but when given a very legit opportunity to prove that she would make a solid, respectful icon checker, and she blew it by being absolutely spiteful.

Just like how you don't have to help create icons as an icon checker, you also don't have to be an icon checker to help create icons. Icon checker, whether or not having an actual amount of power to hold weight in in-game matters, is still a privileged step above normal player, and thus one of the more important things to consider when determining players for that position is if they'd be doing what they can whether or not they had the position.

There's your reason besides deus ex grameramera why Deylin is not getting icon checker back.

besides the fact that from my own personal observations and interactions with Deylin she would use the fact that she's an icon checker to intrapersonally give herself a reason to feel better about herself and rely her self-esteem on the basis that she has a title that most players do not and that's just not healthy but that's just mindless chatter because she is/was my friend

It's been there since June 22nd but a lot of people don't feel the need to share it despite knowing where it is, which happens to be part of the reason why a lot of people don't have icon checker. See: rant above.
