natural prof rate for spells

These need to be lowered alot! I tested some on myself. it took 15 cast for temper to go from 1 - 2 but 60 to go from 2 - 3! Don't even get people started on how to prof offensive magic. Everything is just way to high right now!

I suggest lowering the free experience put into each to prof or increase the natural prof rate

I don't even want to play mage right now haha. Like that other topic said, I literally spent my entire day on FFO to get from 34-35. My refresh is STILL level 14 and I literally refresh everything I see. I spent an entire training party refreshing everyone. And I still "got the hang of it" only.

I hate mages waka

Don't you think, I dunno... 34 to 35 SHOULD take forever?

It's more of an issue with the past experience tables where all the levels up until 45 were easy peasy then suddenly HOLY **** EXPONENTIAL experience TABLES

Not really because you have no level cap. So when we are at level 45 and trying to get cure from like 50-51 it'll take a week of training. And meanwhile the melee will still be capping all their weapons from hitting once after leveling up!

The server is still so young if spells take forever at THIS point I can't imagine how bad melee will pull ahead of mages later server.

but 12-13 shouldnt imo

i spent over 4 or 5 hours on new banian, ripping through my tincs trying to prof poison, after all of that i got no profs, i went to town to dump my experience into it and got 1 prof FINALLY adter 4 to 5 hours of just spamming poison and then dumping around 40k into it

i actually expect that more around the 50's truth be told and that's just cause he spammed it all day to get it to 34-35.

Not everyone has the kind of time to spam it all day, I'm not even sure how Cea found that time haha

The prof 1-to-2 vs oh my god-2-to-3 jump is intentional. If you'd like, I could increase the 1-to-2 prof experience to bring it back in line.

No, I think it should just be lowered a lot because it really does take a bit too long to get to another level.

honestly with nat proffing i would like it to be brought back to initial hosting prof formula, it worked and wasnt too much of a pain

but anything that makes it less of a grind to level a really low level mage would be appreciated

I think what everyone is getting at, is that the problem is, classes that RELY on skills and spells, cant proff anything NEAR as fast as class that rely on physical attacks

Actually its mostly the offensive spells that need this change others are fine. i got my bm saber from 1 to 15 in less than an hour of spamming it on myself so yes fizzles do count towards natural prof. i spent quite a good period of time spamming saber and temper in an inn room until my mana ran out then sleep in bed rinse and repeat to prof it all for a measly 10 gold in nb. so we just need it for the offensive spells

Well in all technicality, we could just cast offensive spells on ourselves over and over while unequipped of all gear. But the fact that we have to resort to grinding in an inn room just for profs means that something needs to be done for proffing skills. What if the prof rate of offensive spells is changed to 250% its current rate (unsure if that seems too high or not), "other" spells' prof rate changed to 150% its current rate, and the rest of the skills are changed to 125% of current rate? This will greatly benefit the offensive spell issues, while also giving the other spells a bit of a boost, too. Again, unsure if these numbers seem a bit too drastic or not... so yeah.

Whenever someone plays a RPG, they feel great when they've made progress on their character, even if it's a little bit.

My suggestion is that in Terulia, increase the prof rate + x, decrease the effects of profs - y, increase the cap for prof by z.

Now everyone feels like they've accomplished something when they level a prof to 35 to 39, even if the damage is the same.

Just because there is no cap doesn't mean you need to be able to easily reach a certain experience level. It simply means that there's no limit on how much you can progress in the long run, despite how difficult it may be.

It could be made ridiculously hard to reach level 5, 10, or 10 and the system of not having a world cap would still serve it's purpose.
