I've been working on a Terulia dynamic map gen update for about the last 3 hours. As part of this bug-fix-turned-update, I think the quality of generated maps has increased substantially. Take a look at the swamps in winter:

There's one small bug yet to fix regarding the dynamic map gen; hopefully it won't take me too long this evening, then I can get back to kingdom mechanics.

I added a failsafe at iteration 2000 to reboot the "game" if a map solution hasn't been reached. The caves reach the failsafe about 80% of the time due to lone mountain-tiles blocking paths. Basically, I need to add an alternate map fill when iterations get high.

To put it another way, when there are "bad tiles" in the swamps or on the beach, the area shuffles locally and then tries new arrangements until something works. In the caves, there's only one type of tile capable of shuffling so it keeps coming back to the same dead-end arrangement.
