In speculation, area-based conquests sounds like a great idea. Presumably the main domain(s) of each kingdom would not be possible to conquer, but there would be other areas that could. Assaulting a domain to take it over is pretty fun and I hope it stays around in some capacity in Terulia.

If the NPC military is always going to be there, will it be possible to position them somehow? It'd be really cool to be able to stick a Ranger on a particular spot on a wall, for instance, and make it stay there and only fire when enemies come into range.

In concept, it's more like CTF. You have to defend "the flag" in whatever form it takes, and presumably you will choose to build a domain around it to keep it secure.

Yes and no. Some structures will come with specialized units. Other units will be recruited from barracks. The more the NPCs like your area, the more choices you'll have. At least that's the plan...
