Don't misunderstand me Haze...I don't think it's a good thing at all. I was the FIRST one against rule 14. I also disagree with this ban.

I'm just saying that quoting rules and discrediting logic isn't going to get anything changed. All you'll do is piss off Locke and make it less likely you can talk reason into him in a private channel.

I was just trying to give you a better alternative to get what you want.

Incidentally, their ban doesn't accomplish anything. They're just going to ***** in this thread because they're bored because they're banned from FFO.

It's not the first time we've seen poor administrative decisions carried out, and it won't be the last. I just finished a one week ban for flaming in Gaku's lair. A ban that was issued by an admin who flamed me and a group of people in the same thread.

Locke, I think you've more than made your point. I am going to treat every single word you say now completely literally, apply zero sense of humor or irony to them. This seems to be what you want to occur. You seem to think this is a good thing, I'm not going to bother trying to change your mind on that.

I made a joke assuming that you were making jokes, I found out this isn't the case, I got a beating of banstick. I'm still not sure where baram and Oondi factor into this, because neither of them said a single thing about the naming rules in the first place, I was the only one to do so with my comment of "NAMING RULES SUX FFFF". Maybe it was 3 F's, I forget the exact number. Considering that this was viewed as an act of trolling, and that you apparently do have authority over dsay and Gaku is fine with that, I'm left without much recourse than to quietly ask you to revoke the ban, knowing the new information that we know now it really doesn't seem necessary to carry out the full term of it. If you fear doing so would make you look easy or afraid of the players or whatever else, next time somebody tries to pull some **** like this, you have a justified ban to hand them and this topic to point them to quietly before promptly locking or deleting any complaint threads they create.

See, one thing I love about this forum is you can see pieces of insight from the most unexpected sources.

As Aeries said. Gaku runs the game, Gaku appointed Locke, Gaku has SEEN this topic, Gaku has not taken any action to overturn Locke's decision.

Therefore, we can infer that Gaku has no objection to Locke's action, or your punishment.

So even if you don't respect/like/listen to Locke, he is acting as Gaku's voice in matters like this, and I would assume Gaku would tell him if he had a problem with it.

If he disagreed, he would have posted so by now I'd think.

That fact is what destroys the entire argument you guys made. Regardless of how fair/unfair the rules are, or how they are changed or enforced, if Gaku does not raise his hand to object to it, then those are HIS judgments being passed down. His ruling passed THROUGH Locke, who he appointed.

I banned people over something they said on dsay, so apparently, when it comes to certain things, I can moderate dsay.

I've read this whole topic, but I'm new and I haven't really played the game much yet, so bear with me if I'm wrong.

As far as I can tell, it looks like people were joking around and Locke-who seems to be the only admin-told them not too. However, to my understanding, this was on an unmoderated chat channel. It also seems, judging by the log that was posted, that everyone had been joking around for a long time before Locke said to stop. I don't see anywhere that he stated he was serious that time, and before that everyone had been joking. Therefore, I think Locke's definitely in the wrong.

First of all, he didn't make it clear at all. Out of nowhere, in a long, light-hearted, joking discussion, he decides to make a serious decree. There is no way anyone could be expected to take that seriously. I'm highly surprised that he would be allowed to get away with such a thing as banning anyone for an entire week because they couldn't tell he wasn't joking. I don't think anyone could tell he wasn't joking. This isn't right at all.

Let me put it this way: Are we now supposed to interpret everything the admin says in complete seriousness? I've played plenty of games where admins joke about banning people all the time. Are we now supposed to assume that all of those jokes are completely serious, that anything out of an admin's mouth is law? I guess so.

I don't know much about the situation beyond what I've read in this topic, but I think its pretty cut-and-dried that Locke is in the wrong. It wasn't clear at all that he was serious, since before that nobody was serious, including him.
