why is this debate still going on? make em all acceptable already.

Whether or not people RP, FFO is still an RP-oriented game. A person's character name(s) should have some sort of meaning because of the theme that the game has. FFO may be dying a slow death, but that doesn't mean its RP orientation is, too. If we allowed every single name that a person thought up of, then we'd lose that orientation. To be honest, these RP-oriented naming guidelines are partially what separates FFO from most other BYOND games; it gives each character you make some sort of meaning, if only a minuscule amount. Running around with a name like Xx0R3\\3th0xX doesn't have the same effect as Relleth, because Relleth has that more realistic value to it, be it to others or on a personal scale. It's much harder to have that value with something like a screen-name, names intentionally meant to be references of some sort of popular media, and so on.

If you're annoyed by it, pk them, and if you can't pk them. THEN STFU

Yeah because killing them solves the problem.

A name generator is a stupid idea

I enjoy the names I made for myself, such as maoi po ryuokushi etc

If it randomly generated a name I didn't even like I doubt id be playing

Also, who's to say id even be pronouncing my own characters name right, as I know how to pronounce all the names I've made

People will always find a stupid way to make stupid names, but why deal with the players by changing the game mechanics to limit the players?

Deal with the real problem: the players

If some douche*** wants to try making a stupid bs name, rename him, if they give further problems, ban his ****** ass

Instead of changing game mechanics to make them less abusable yet more annoying for those that don't abuse, ban those ****** ****s who abused, and so on and so forth
