between the facts that
A) i dealt with whatever the **** they did to discord, and actually retroactively found it kind of neat and plausible mainly as a showcase of the full extent of fluttershy's ability to 'tame animals' and 'charm hearts' (and the fact that given the nature of the show and who it's really made for to begin with something like Keep Calm and Flutter On shouldn't have even been surprising)
B) twilight looks cute as **** with those fluffy lil wings in these newly released shots

i'm pretty sure i'll end up being fine with this, w/e

also thank god, /mlp/ was nothing but a bunch of people being mad over everything and doing anything BUT actually enjoying the whole thing anymore. then again i guess that's what every board on 4chan does to what it's supposed to be dedicated to

You're right that everyone there complains a lot, but the gifs are saying "even if everything is ruined, we'll stick with it."

Yeah I dunno, I thought /mlp/ was actually deleted but it's more like they just "giving up" and throwing their hands into the air. But then there's stuff like the potc gif implying they're the one and only part of the community that'll stay with it 'till the end. I dunno, back when I went to /co/ when the pony thing was very first starting up there were tons of awesome guys there, but now it seems all that's left on /mlp/ are the kinds of hyper-insecure little twits that'd leave if given the slightest excuse to, so who knows.

I do think it's funny how worked up everyPONy's getting over this, though. I mean, the Fighting is Magic thing was a huge bummer, but considering how long they let it go despite obviously knowing of its existence and probably being at last forced by some lawyers to shut it down -- and how Faust has stepped in, which is a miracle if the team can stop splitting up so bad and actually take her up on her offer -- the idea of people actually *quitting the fandom* over it is ridiculous. Something like a purple horse getting cute wings is really a non-issue and if anything can lead to a lot more interesting stories next season.

This sums up why /mlp/ is worried. The idea by itself of Twilight becoming an alicorn (temporary or otherwise) isn't that bad, but the reasons behind it entail that it's for marketing purposes solely and that the writers won't be able to make it work. There's been a lot more noticeable fan-service lately, which I don't have a problem with, but some also worry about fan-service overtaking more creative/cutsie/memorable moments such as "the fun has been doubled!"

No one knows how this will all turn out which we all can see is the real reason why everyone's stirring emotions. Sending Cease and Desist's to fan series projects like Friendship is Witchcraft and Fighting is Magic definitely isn't helping calm down the commotion. And now they're launching a spin-off with the mane six humanized? It shouldn't affect the main show any, being a spin-off, but the timing of all of this makes Discord giddy inside.

Anyways, people are always threatening to quit the fandom and complaining about the direction, but then again there's always people doing that (so how many really left to begin with?).

/mlp/, and pretty much 4chan in its entirety, love to hate and eat up surprise news and go all out with it. There was that incident a few months ago that confirmed a total of 400 users were constant "****-posters" trying to make 4chan worse (don't ask me how so many people got dedicated to such a ridiculous cause). So the group of people that react the worst probably always will appear to be 4chan.

As for me, I won't make any calls because I'm not certain of anything. Can only wait and see. And wonder what tomorrow will bring.

I just spent literally about an hour of my life typing out this extremely large, well thought-out post explaining all my thoughts and feelings about this whole pony issue as of late. I filled in literally all but ~100 of the remaining characters allowed on Terulia forums... so about 8,000. I was going to copy-paste it to my new tumblr as a really good meaningful early post.

I click "post" and it says "Error: request too large". I hit back on my browser and all the text is ****ing gone. Forever.

I wanna die.

Anyway, basically, long story short:

I understand people's concerns, but in the end, it's all good. I have a counter-argument for every single thing people're mad about, and I don't even think I'm being at all naive or anything; it's just been a lot of bad luck, bad timing, and silliness all around lately.

In the end; we got Derpy back, Hasbro's doing a lot of GOOD things too like the much more 'broad-appeal' toys coming out and the packaging for a lot of these things seeming a lot less grossly feminine; things like going to a Toys'are'Us and seeing a glistening, black shoulderbag featuring Vinyl Scratch amongst the pink aisles; Equestria Girls being bizarre but not necessarily bad, as we haven't seen it yet; etc. etc.

And the finale was awesome, I feel. And I thought the pacing was MUCH better than like, every other major FiM episode ever. And the twilicorn stuff was handled just as well as Lauren herself would have, and I feel had planned more or less herself for later in the series, anyway.

****, I had so much I had said that was really cool here, but I guess I'll retype it manually into said tumblr later and link it or something. Because, y'know, all two of the people who might ever see my thoughts here are important.

Cea will probably read it too. He's starting to ask me questions like "what are you doing here" and "WHAT ARE YOU DOING HERE?"

It's understandable that they had to cram a two-parter into one, so any complaints about pacing aren't due to the writers being at fault. The only parts to pick at are "everything's fine" repeated over and over. At the very beginning it seems unsettling to get a message like that right off the bat and have it repeat. But on the flip-side, it's reassuring that they know their audience well.

Sorry your post died. If you were using a lot of special html characters (the buttons above the text input), those usually count as 3 or more instead of 1 each. That's not something the counter can keep track of.

I liked the finale over all, but I think Twilight looks bizarre with wings.

Oh, it's okay. I say so many words that it even defeats forum programming, I'm used to it! I was very very close to the text threshold and I'd say no one else would actually type that much out so it shouldn't be that much of an issue. I should've saved that much text somewhere before posting though, things like this have happened before.

I feel like the 'everything's fine' was a bit cute at the beginning like, "something's definitely going to happen", and considering a writer has already confirmed that this season's finale is more of the first part of a 3-parter including season 4's premiere, the repeat of that line at the end was kinda funny in that sense, too. It did feel a little forced, though; I think it'd have been quite heartwarming just to have it at the very end of the episode "for us" but it feels almost like they're trying TOO hard to reassure us. I'm still comfortable with assuming the show will stay high quality as long as it's around, though; showing they could handle things like "pink pony princess Cadance" and especially Twilight princessification this well shows they can handle really anything well. They're a great cartoon-making team.
