When you first did the revert gaku you said there would be NO updates and because of that many people put vasts amount of time into proffing armor and millions of gold into engraving and upgrading certain armors. The WLC change idc about I actually kinda like it gives us something more to look forward to.

my main focus is the fizzle rate in non mage armors. This is simply silly and disgusting to me as a player. This is not something you change mid server after everyone has spent vasts amount of gold and time collecting good armors. I know me and many other ww, rw, and bw are currently ****ed over completely by your random and sudden decision to **** over non mage gear using wizards.

In all fairness i believe you should remove this update from the game. Wearing heavy gear allowed mage classes a way to effectively and effeciently counter not only melees but also have exceptional ability at soloing anywhere he or she wanted just like melees could. Even when my rw was wearing all heavy shido(a knight in leam) could charge me for over 400+ damage, with all mage gear on those numbers went to 600+.

I understand you nerfed damage overall by 20% and that will lesson the numbers but the fact still remains that changing something like this mid server after many people have put so much devotion and effort into getting certain gear is downright rediculous and unfair.

Why should a Wizard be able to do what a Knight, Ninja, and Master do even more effectively than them due to the added bonus of Cure?

Its not as effective as a knight in any way. knights have their plusses and rw have theirs. That arguement is as old as history.

Basically, albeit not as eloquently as Mint put it.

This is pitiful for you to be encouraging a higher level cap (cause you has no life) but bash an armor update because you have no life and invested tons of time and devotion to armor.
You failed to state a valid reason why this armor system is bad. You're just posting how upset YOU are that you decided to skip dinner and play ffo for nothing :/

This update brings a degree of balance instead of having god rw's (ironically that's your class ain't that funny~~~)

Edit: I've been soloing exceptionaly as a bm for this hosting. somethings wrong if you're having problems

I've always been of the mind that nothing in a game is set in stone, and that when the game changes you have to change with it. I was a heavy armor using red mage too, and yes it was frustrating having to suddenly change out all my gear before I could train again. I'm still not fully recovered actually, still missing one or two pieces. But whether I agree with it or not I've no choice but to adapt. I'll cope.

I don't think it's unreasonable to make mages avoid melee gear, just as I don't think it's unreasonable to make melees avoid mage gear (due to low defense and durability). There are actually benefits to wearing mage gear, so it's not a complete nerf. It's cool, don't take it too serious.

When a major change goes into a game like this someone's going to get hosed. When guns were removed, what happened to all the masters that poured tons of exp into projectile? When tonfas were nerfed, what happened to all the fighters and ninjas that pumped experience into melee?

Although now that I think of it guns may have been removed at the beginning of a wipe, so that may not be the best example. But similar things have happened. It's no big deal though. You can still get new gear and more gold. Hell, you can roll up a knight to make use of all that heavy armor. It's all good bro.

Leeroy actually had a interesting suggestion.

Instead of making non mage gear increase fizzle rate how about making non mage gear reduce magic stat? This would allow mages to use heavy/light/stealth but would also punish them in a way to where they would do less damage the more non mage gear he/she is using. So a mage would be able to play a bit tanky if she or he wanted but theyd do less damage than say his glass cannon counterpart.

P.S.- why do you kids find it mandatory to troll every thread you see made by a player whos not on your side? grow up and actually make an arguement and dicsuss the topic like adults.

A- Darlute I stated clearly that making mages fizzle for wanting to wear good gear they find simply because its not specifically mage gear is unfair. For example i found a blood vest of the serpent this hosting masters and knights will not use this but its ncie to have on a mage however it isnt worth wearing when it causes me to fizzle incessantly so therefor this new armor system makes all non mage gear useless to mages which is unfair.

Think you can make fun of me behind my back now that I'm gone??

Heavy Armor + Disencumber and/or Wayfayer gear + all dat delicious block chance increase + Fog/Ruse + Cure =

White/Red Wizard at Dark Ruins

Being shoehorned into mage armor does suck a bit, considering there aren't any choices in the matter and it's the most expensive kind of armor. Why not suggest something like Light armor causing less fizzle so Light armor's actually useful for a change?

I'm pretty sure at the end of the time I played I was forced into using mage armor and somehow I managed to deal with the increased damage output/cure output...

Light and Stealth both give a reduced fizzle chance compared to heavy.

I believe it's something like 50% fizzle with full Heavy, but 25% with full Light or Stealth.

edit: Heavy armor is about 6% fizzle per piece, light/stealth 3%.

yet still make you fizzle insane amounts. i wear 2 pieces of light armor right now with a average 20-25% fizzle rate ... what

Hah. Maybe those numbers seem fair to me because of the way D&D treats armor-wearing wizards.

Anyways, some information is missing here that'd help in reaching a fair conclusion: approximately how much fizzle rate there is between a heavy armor user and a light armor user (aka cast cure roughly a hundred times with each and record the fizzles) and how much increasing spell profs counters the fizzle rate (unless Gakumerasara changed this and the armor overlaps the spell's natural fizzle rate).

I'd stick with mage armor personally; a real muscle wizard doesn't risk his spells failing. But hey, you gotta fight for what you believe in I guess.

reply to Sinsie:

According to Gaku, he didn't intend on updating this reverted version at all. Apparently someone convinced him to make some changes because according to Gaku, he made "three small changes to better suit this version".

All three changes were updates he has made to his current version which is not being hosted right now, so I'd assume he wouldn't put effort into actually changing new things that don't involve the magical copy and paste functions.

The only weird change really is that champs and shops both seem to be nerfed.

Ah, that's true. A lot of us have noticed that and Gaku did not mention changing either.

Edit: My best guess is that he accidentally pasted in some code that wasn't meant to be there :P

reply to Professor:

That and the reduced EXP rates.

But then again, that might not be so bad with the idea of an infinite level cap.

He said "idea".

As in, one of the three ideas that Letha proposed as a solution to the three month level cap wait.
