"area-based" darkness? As in caves? How does that work?

reply to Shane:

In FFO and in previous versions of Terulia, each tile had to be set to a specific darkness. The new default is that all tiles within an area have the same darkness (with overrides as needed). This was changed in order to make dynamic map generation more efficient and more easily extensible.

Oh that's pretty cool. Is it mechanically the same darkness as what we see now, just more efficient?

Yes, particularly in terms of creating new maps, whether dynamically or manually.

no EQ prof experience from PCs *o

So no equipment-based natural proffing from PvP now?

Is this to reduce on botting or was there something else that came up?

Yeah; it's to reduce botting. For most people, time spent actually PvPing is negligible relative to the amount of time spent killing monsters, even for those who only kill monsters to get to someone they want to PvP.

While you're at it, why not remove prof experience from attacking NPCs outside of siege mode, or perhaps even only receive prof experience from attacking NPCs from a domain you're outlawed in. That's another popular method of botting for easy natural proffing.

It's already like this.

6 of my Roundhouse profs I got last night came from attacking Citizens in Shyron while Impuned.

reply to Shane:

should have mentioned, it only applies to EQ profs...

And that brings me to a good point: if I see anyone away training on NPCs, I'm just going to delete them.
This is an issue I'm going to have to fix in code for Terulia, but it's not worth fixing in FFO.

What about if you're doing it while actually active. The entire time I was doing the Roundhouse profs I was manually clicking while watching a movie to the side of FFO. I was actively chatting with some other people and etc. during the entire thing. I'm sure people will vouch for me that every time I got a Roundhouse prof (once every twenty minutes or so) I spammed Dsay with random bull****.

maybe people won't beg and beg and beg to do dds and nothing but dds every night in vorg anymore

maybe people will actually think about the whole back-and-forth route when training and won't

maybe you can kill people who're out trying to solo-hog tons of perms and just general good-gold items and get a real reward besides just 'haha i dont like you..........' or 'haha i like my pvp rank no one cares about' which adds a whole new reason to want to learn how to pvp (both for offense and defense on this matter)

honestly it sounds good enough that we should at least test it out for a week or two before shooting it down

reduced Chakra/Mantra prof effect 50% o

Why did this happen? I heard it was to reduce away training, but how reducing it's power reduces away training?
