15 minute wait for unconventional relogs *
lose 1 prof point for using Relog verb *

Wait, what? So one of your skills goes down a level every time you relog? And what exactly is an unconventional relog, x'ing out of the window?

Also, wrong year in the title Gaku.

I took the liberty of fixing the topic title for him.

I figure that's to cut down the usual "oh hey we finished training, we're out of supplies. Let's close out and magically appear in town within 20 seconds." routine folks have.

I always thought respawning in town after relogging was dumb.

I think you should relog to your last location.

Problem is that you can use that to avoid people who are about to fight you or whatnot. But that would very rarely happen and people would adapt to it.

How is that not a problem with the current system?

Avoiding fights would be less possible if you logged back in to your last location since they could always wait a while to see if you log back on.

The only real abuse potential I foresee after thinking about it, would be an attack force getting into position near a domain one by one, logging out, waiting for everyone to be in a good spot, starting a siege and then all logging on.

That doesn't seem like a problem unless they just do it to be in position while waiting for defenders to go to bed.

That's exactly what I mean. Why else would it be a problem...

Anyway, addressing an update...

Being penalized for use of the relog verb could be handled in another way I think. The relog verb is nice since you keep all the existing information in your chat window when switching characters and such.

What about penalizing people for use of the relog verb when outside of their spawn zone instead?

Or better yet, just stop updating FFO and only work on Terulia.

Or rather, using 'Relog' when not in a TOWN will have said negative effects. Towns are usually safe enough places that you should be allowed to log there without a problem.

Considering that it's to discourage Logging To Town in the first place, I don't see why not.

One thing that bothers me though, what if you disconnect frequently due to a bad connection? Unless someone hostiles you at the last second, that could quickly become bothersome.

Only negatively affects you if you use the relog verb, not if you close out or lag out.

FROM MY UNDERSTANDING GOOD SIR

That probably goes under unconventional relog.

D-did I see something about an intro movie. Either it's gonna be REALLLLYYYY awesome and epic in every way or a complete fail.

Man I can't wait to see it.

Man I can't wait to see it.

It's not complete yet, but it's a good start.

Honestly, closing FFO altogether to force a relog and eating the 15 minute wait sounds infinitely better than costing yourself a prof point to do it. :| If someone absolutely has to be penalized for warping back to town, couldn't he just get some death sickness or something temporary? It would at least stop them from being able to go out immediately again, rather than losing a prof (and I assume the experience that went with it).

I like the d&d armor fizzle rate thing, it'll make mages think twice about using heavy armor.

I don't see why it would? It provides defense against status spells which is what mage gear's only real use is.

What I'm trying to figure out is why light and heavy armor are no giving defense against magic. Just feels unfair.

But what if some **** goes down that would cut into what would normally be a training party and people abort for x and y drama? I know that at least a notable number of parties end up doing this, and losing a prof would just absolutely be annoying.

How about instead of losing a prof, using the relog verb outside of a town makes you drop a 'relog chest,' which could be say 1/3 gold and a couple of consumables, perhaps?
